Free hearing screenings for people age five and up
The Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC) recommends an annual hearing screening for everyone as part of your overall health and wellness program.
Free hearing screenings in New York City
CHC offers free hearing screenings at our office at 50 Broadway, on the 6th floor, in Lower Manhattan. Licensed audiologists are available to provide you with a five-minute screening every Wednesday (12 – 2 pm) and Thursday (4 – 6 pm). Following the screening, there is always plenty of time for you to ask questions and gain a greater understanding about your hearing, hearing protection and recommended steps to take moving forward. You’ll need a reservation, so call 917-305-7766 (v) or request an appointment online.
Free hearing screenings are available for ages five and up.
The purpose of a screening is to determine if your hearing falls within a normal hearing range. In the event you know or suspect you have a hearing loss, a comprehensive hearing evaluation will give you far more information about your hearing. A hearing evaluation (or hearing test) will result in an audiogram that provides your audiologist with your complete hearing picture. Unsure whether you need a hearing screening or a comprehensive hearing test? The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association explains the difference.
