A truly unsettling event, Hurricane Sandy left thousands without power, transportation, and water. Many New York and New Jersey residents are still dealing with very difficult circumstances.
I hope that all of you, your friends, and family are safe. Many of our staff have found themselves without power, but thankfully, no one has been hurt. We hope the same is true for you.
At this time, power is still out in much of downtown Manhattan where levels of flooding were unprecedented. The building management of CHC’s offices at 50 Broadway has informed us that some nearby areas have had power restored, but our building is still without electricity. We’re optimistic that the building will be reconnected over the weekend and if so, and if it is safe, CHC will reopen on Monday, November 5, 2012.
We know how difficult it is to experience a delay when service is needed regarding hearing technology. In order to accomodate you as quickly as possible, the hearing aid dispensary will be open and available to clients on a walk-in basis daily from 10 AM to 2 PM for a period of time after we open. These walk-in appointments will be available for checking hearing aids that are not functioning correctly, to make earmolds or check old ones, or other hearing aid services that do NOT require a hearing (audiological) test or evaluation. As soon as is reasonably possible, we will also offer extended hours in order to reschedule all appointments missed this past week.
