Please join the Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC) for a free educational workshop – Parenting Your Child with Differences – facilitated by Dr. Dale Atkins. Dr Atkins is a psychologist and frequent guest expert on The Today Show and CNN Headline News and has a background in special education emphasizing hearing loss and early childhood development.
This is one in a series of Parent U workshops from CHC designed to help you navigate the complex issues of childhood deafness and auditory challenges.
Parents of children with all degrees of hearing loss and auditory challenges are invited to this informative session for guidance and practical advice on educational, emotional, and social issues.
About Dr. Dale Atkins
Dr. Dale Atkins, a licensed psychologist, is a former teacher who received her MA at Teacher’s College, Columbia University, in what was then called “education of the deaf.” She worked with children with hearing losses and their families in NY, CA and Israel.
She has more than thirty years of experience as a relationship expert. Dr. Atkins is an author, lecturer, and for the past 15 years, commentator on NBC’s The Today Show. She is the author of six books, many articles, chapters, and journals for popular and professional audiences. Her chapters on family dynamics and alternative ways to work effectively with families appear in premier audiology, psychology, and parenting texts.
Dr. Atkins has presented multiple times at AG BELL conferences on a variety of topics. Additionally, she serves on the Boards of several non-profit local and national organizations whose foci are literacy, tolerance, wellness, child protection, and community action. Dr. Atkins has a private psychology practice in New York City and is an active community volunteer.
