Twice daily accessibility workshops May 1-16
We’re pleased to share the news that the Apple World Trade Center Store is now offering twice daily workshops to address accessibility needs for people with disabilities, including hearing loss.
The sessions are designed to help you use accessibility features that you might not be aware of on your iPhone, iPad and Mac. Each workshop focuses on functionality that relates to a specific disability – hearing loss, vision loss, reduced mobility – so you’ll want to view the schedule and see which session best meets your needs. Be sure to make a reservation on the Apple website. Note that CHC is not managing reservations for these in-store workshops.

If you can’t make it by May 16, not to worry. Apple WTC will continue to offer the workshops, but you’ll want to check their calendar for dates and times. Open captioning is available upon request.
Reasons to celebrate in May
We think this is a terrific way for Apple WTC to honor Better Hearing and Speech Month and set the stage for their celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day which takes place May 18th. More on that, including a special Apple invitation for the CHC community, coming soon!

When you visit any Apple Store, be sure to inquire about the availability of a hearing loop. Many stores offer a looped space. The key is to speak up and make the request. That gets the ball rolling and, hopefully, bouncing over any and all obstacles to communication.

Have a happy Better Hearing and Speech Month, everybody!

I am excited at the prospect of these workshops. I have an Iphone 7+ and an Ipad, with Oticon Opn hearing aids.

but when I click on that link it just brings me to the schedule for the WTC Apple store. Am I missing something? It would be great if there was one of these workshops somewhere not too distant from where I am, in Southern NH.
Thank you.

I am looking forward to attending the night time session on May 15th. I would greatly benefit from hearing neck loop and open captioning…. Thank you in advance!
This is such great news…so impressed with Apple, and with Trevor at Woodmere OH store who took the time a long time ago to help my father with his phone…
The link is only to a page for the Apple WTC location.

While you’re at the Apple Store, please inquire about hearing accommodations to find out what might be available at your local store. If you’re there for a one-on-one consultation, ask if they have a table with a hearing loop. Certain stores can accommodate your request.
