New York, NY — The Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC) is thrilled to announce its 31st Annual Gala, an epicurean extravaganza benefiting the organization’s vital programs and services for individuals and families affected by hearing loss, deafness or listening challenges. This year’s event, a walk-around food and wine tasting, will take place on October 21st at the magnificent Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers, in partnership with Wine Spectator.

A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Eleanor Roosevelt Humanitarian Award to Vinton G. Cerf, Internet pioneer and champion of accessible communication. Cerf, widely known as one of the fathers of the Internet, will be honored for his groundbreaking contributions to expanding communication access for all individuals, including those with hearing loss.

Guests will enjoy tastings from some of New York City's most celebrated restaurants, including Gramercy Tavern, Mark’s on Madison, and Becco. Executive Chef William Gallagher of Becco serves as Chef Chair, bringing together culinary talents to create an unforgettable experience.

Bill Ritter, Anchor for Channel 7 Eyewitness News, will return as Broadcast Chair for the evening, leading a group of fellow broadcasters who will step into the role of sous chefs for a hands-on contribution to the event.

The CHC Annual Gala has been a cornerstone fundraiser for the organization, raising over $10 million in the last decade alone, in support of innovative programs that transform the lives of individuals and families affected by hearing loss, deafness or listening challenges.

"We are proud to bring together so many talented chefs, broadcasters, and supporters for a night dedicated to breaking down communication barriers," said Laurie Hanin, Executive Director of CHC. "Honoring Vinton G. Cerf, a true pioneer in the field of communication access, perfectly reflects our vision of a world without limits for people with hearing loss.”
