Tinnitus Retraining Therapy Provides Relief
Susan Adams, MS, CCC-A, Tinnitus Specialist
Recent headlines suggest that tinnitus (or ringing in the ear) could be a side effect of Covid-19. Last week’s “Some Covid-19 Patients Say They’re Left with Ringing Ears” in The New York Times was the latest story to generate buzz on this important topic.
As Supervisor of CHC’s Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Center, I know that having problematic tinnitus can be one of life’s most distressing experiences. That is true regardless of the cause. So I’m happy to offer a few words of hope.
If you’re a longtime tinnitus sufferer, or perhaps someone who just recently began to experience tinnitus as a side effect of Covid-19, it’s important to know that help is available. Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) is a highly effective treatment option that can bring significant relief. While there is no “medical cure” for tinnitus, TRT can greatly improve quality of life for severe tinnitus sufferers.

The TRT program at CHC is a treatment based on a neurophysiological model of tinnitus and developed by research scientist and professor Dr. Pawel Jastreboff. TRT treatment gets at the sound of tinnitus by addressing one’s reaction to it so that tinnitus becomes a non-issue.
We would be happy to share more about our TRT program with you if you’d like. Contact us at kphipps@chchearing.org or (917) 305-7751 to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation.
