Do you experience tinnitus (i.e., a ringing, buzzing or hissing in the ear when none of these sounds is actually occurring in the environment)?

Do you have hyperacusis (i.e., a heightened sensitivity to sound)?

If you answered yes to one or both questions, CHC’s Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Center can help you gain relief from your symptoms—whether mild or so severe they impact all aspects of your life.

Our goal is not simply to help you tolerate your symptoms. We work with you to restore comfort and control over your perception of sound.

Schedule a Tinnitus or Hyperacusis Consultation Today

To schedule a tinnitus or hyperacusis consultation at the Center for Hearing and Communication in New York, contact us today at 917-305-7766 or use the button below. The consultation, which includes a hearing test, is covered by most private and government insurance plans.

You'll benefit from the unique expertise of our specially trained audiologists. They'll assess your condition and offer tools and techniques to help you manage your symptoms, with appropriate follow-up. Any follow-up sessions can be done remotely.

CHC's Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Center

Our program starts with a 75-minute office visit during which we'll assess your hearing and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. A CHC audiologist with extensive training in tinnitus and hyperacusis management will:

  • conduct a comprehensive hearing test

  • discuss your symptoms and concerns

  • assess your needs

  • recommend treatment options

For those with mild symptoms, sound enhancement through specialized apps and devices may be enough to manage the condition (with follow-up, as needed).

Tinnitus Retraining Therapy

Individuals with more severe symptoms may benefit from tinnitus retraining therapy (TRT), a treatment option that involves retraining the brain to ignore the sounds it doesn't need. CHC audiologists are highly skilled in TRT and have a track record of success in helping people overcome the daily challenges of tinnitus and hyperacusis.
